Mountain Lake Rd. (Rte. 700) is currently closed due to a mudslide. Take Doe Creek Rd. (Rte. 613) to get up the mountain from Rte. 460. (Updated 5/13/25)

The Station is open by appointment only. Limited housing is available; most cottages are drained and closed for the winter. There is no water in research facilities until May.

Mountain Lake is a remote residential facility. We are committed to providing a safe living and working environment year-round. On occasion we need to restrict access or impose regulations on station users. Any special operations, procedures, or station regulations (e.g. seasonal, severe weather closure, emergency on site) will be posted here as quickly as we are able.
